What to write on a personalised Christmas teddy

What to write on a personalised Christmas teddy

You’ve chosen the teddy. Now you’re looking at the personalisation box and wondering what to put on it.

Just their name? Their first Christmas? The year as well?

There isn’t one right answer. The best wording depends on whether you want to remember a particular Christmas or give them a teddy they can bring out every December.

For a baby’s first Christmas

A first Christmas design is a lovely way to mark that first December together. Simple wording such as “My 1st Christmas” with the baby’s name and year keeps the occasion clear without needing a long message.

For example, a design might read “My 1st Christmas”, followed by “Amelia” and “2026”. The arrangement will depend on the embroidery template you choose.

If you prefer “My First Christmas” written out, look for a template with that wording. The words and space available vary between designs, so choose the template before deciding on extra text.

For a child who’s a little older

A name and year can be enough. It marks when they received their teddy without making the gift all about a first Christmas they’ve already had.

A “Merry Christmas” design with their name also works well. You might be choosing a teddy for a Christmas Eve box, a gift from grandparents or a new addition to the decorations they help unpack each year.

You don’t have to add a year if you’d prefer the design without one. Check which fields are available on your chosen template.

Let the character help you choose

A traditional bear in a Santa hat has a different feel from a gingerbread man, snowman or elf. Choose the character you think they’ll love, then look at the designs available for its tummy.

Our Christmas Tummi Bears include bears, a reindeer, a snowman, a gingerbread man and an elf. Each product page shows the personalisation options for that character.

Check the little details before ordering

Read the name back slowly, even if you’ve typed it a thousand times before. Check the year too, particularly if you’re taking inspiration from an older photo.

If you’re buying for someone else’s child, use the spelling their parents use. A nickname can be lovely, but it’s worth checking that it’s what they’d like on the finished gift.

Please enter the details requested by your chosen design rather than adding a long message to a name field. If you have something different in mind, ask me before ordering so I can check what will fit.

Leave time for the stitching and the post

Each teddy is embroidered to order in my Western Sydney studio. Check the individual product page for its production time, and allow for delivery after that.

If you need it for a particular date, get in touch first. It’s much easier to plan a Christmas gift when we know when you need it.
